Project Management for Young Professionals

Length: 3.5 hours.

Most organizations require people outside of the job title of project manager to perform many project management functions. This workshop will help familiarize you with basic project management best practices. A project management roadmap and workbook for project planning will be provided to participants. During the training we will demonstrate project management concepts through experiential learning via the Project Risk board game.

The following topics will be covered in this workshop:

  • Requirements gathering
  • Work breakdown structures
  • Stakeholder analysis
  • Risk management
  • Project monitoring and controlling
  • Earned Value status - an introduction to a visual method of project status reporting

Who should attend?

Knowledge workers, managers, supervisors and individual contributors who are looking for nontechnical tools and techniques to successfully manage projects and project teams. Other participants may include anyone who would like to work on balancing the complex demands of project work while maintaining daily work load or simply working the basic techniques to manage and maintain project success.
